Learn About Blockchain at Oracle OpenWorld

In less than two weeks tens of thousands of Oracle’s customers and partners will gathering for our annual conference in San Francisco.  It’s always an exciting time, but this year I am more excited than normal because I’ll be talking about some of our work on Blockchain technology.  Blockchain, or Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is one of the most exciting and disruptive technologies to emerge for a very long time and I’ve been quietly researching and working with it for quite a while in semi stealth mode (if you follow me on twitter you probably picked up on this) and this year a lot of Oracle experts will start showing you some of our work and sharing our views and insights.  Given the level of interest in the topic, I expect all the Blockchain related sessions to be packed houses so register for them as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

So three ways to find Blockchain sessions

  1. Use this Focus on Blockchain document that lists keynotes, demo, sessions, hands on and panel discussions.
  2. Go to the session Catalog and use the handy filter as seen below

  3. Just use this link to register for sessions I’m presenting

Oracle Joins Hyperledger and my Blockchain Session at Oracle OpenWorld

Blockchain ImageAlthough it was announced in an Oracle blog post a few weeks ago, there was an announcement from Hyperledger today which has been picked up by coindesk and a lot of other news outlets.

I have been working on/with Blockchain or Disitributed Ledger Techncology(DLT)* for some time, as have many, many people inside Oracle.  I have also been talking to A LOT of our customers, because when a technology has the possibility to make huge transformations to the way we do business, collaboration is critical.  I love that I am able to not only be part of the conversation on how the technology evolves, but also how enterprises will be able to benefit from it and how it will impact existing applications and business processes in the short, medium and long term.

I will share some of my work in my session at Oracle OpenWorld in a few weeks, so if you are coming to San Francisco for that, hopefully you’ll join me at the below session (register now in case it gets fully booked)

My OOW17 Blockchain Session

There are plenty of other sessions discussing Blockchain, watch this space for a comprehensive list.

*The controversy on what is a Blockchain and what is DLT merits a blog post all of its own.

Catch me at Oracle OpenWorld 2013

Just a quick post to list out the sessions I’ll be involved in presenting this year at Oracle OpenWorld.  I will also be active on twitter as we approach the conference and during the week itself, look for the #OOW hashtag and follow me.

All of this will enable your customers to reap the benefits of Oracle Fusion in the cloud or on-premises faster than ever.

Oracle Fusion Applications: Social Collaboration and Mobile for ERP [CON9553] – Tuesday, Sep 24, 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM – Moscone West – 3022

Social and mobile are areas where the enterprise software industry is seeing some exciting innovation that drives productivity and business benefit.  I’m presenting with John Killen and we want to show you how your organization can make best use of the features in Fusion ERP suite.  We have a lot of product to show, so there will be more demo and less powerpoint, there will be no snoozing in this session.

Learn how Oracle Fusion solutions for social networking and mobile can help ERP organizations boost user productivity and increase user adoption. Oracle Fusion ERP applications are optimized for today’s collaborative, hyperconnected, mobile workforce and enable new levels of productivity and collaboration for finance, procurement, and project portfolio management teams. This session highlights the ways your company can increase performance and alignment across ERP organizations and related business processes.

I will also be talking on Sunday at the OAUG GL SIG meeting, the topic will be the upgrade to Ebusiness Suite R12 Subleger Accounting (SLA).  Which is a hot topic whenever I talk to customers, there is a lot of power in SLA and I think people are pretty excited about it and realizing some quick gains from it’s power.

I’m going to be pretty busy preparing for these presentations, but I’d like to find time to blog about some of the other things I’ll be attending or I think are interesting to followers of this blog.  Watch this space.

Got my OOW badge

I collected my badge here at Oracle HQ, so I can avoid the crowds at the Moscone. Now what I don’t have is a ticket to the Party on Wednesday Night, which is held on Treasure Island with UB40, Seal, Elvis Costello and some Country artist who’s name I don’t recall (sorry – but I only dislike two kinds of music; Country and Western). People may not know this, but Oracle employees in general do not get a ticket to the party even if we have DEMOgrounds or Speaker ribbons on our badges. So there’s normally a load of Oracle folks asking customers for and spare tickets. The past few years friends have sorted me out, but this year I have no leads…I will be in the DEMOgrounds Wednesday and Thursday mornings so you can drop by there to chat or contact me if you want to arrange to meet some time.

I plan to do updates via twitter and post here on the blog regularly throughout the conference so stay tuned.

Also check out the official Open World Blog, they’re getting great content on there this year and I’ll be watching that closely.

Financials Sessions at Oracle Open World 2008

A lot of people are asking when various sessions are, readers of this blog are probably interested in Oracle EBS financials, Helle posted on Oracle Mix a couple of useful links. I recommend looking at this pdf which lists all the financials sessions including demogrounds, apps lounges, presentations etc.

My session is listed there, I look forward to seeing some of your there.

Are Intercompany Processing and Reconciliation Currently Pain Points for Your Enterprise?

David Haimes, Oracle; Helle Hennings, Oracle

I blogged last year about the meet the Experts Lounge, well this year it has been renamed to Applications Lounge. I haven’t been asked to attend this year, so if you want to ask me any questions or provide feedback you’ll have to come to the session above, find me at the DEMOgrounds, the Blogger Meetup or follow me in twitter, or use this blog all year round – remember customer interaction is not just for Oracle Open World, it’s for life.
