Advanced Global Intercompany System R12 White Paper

There is a white paper available on metalink (metalink note 418649.1) that describes in detail each set up step you need to perform to set up AGIS.  It is a very nice document with screen shots to show you every step of the way and there are also some viewlets that show you the set up in progress.

This is a pretty good starting point if you are setting up AGIS

  1. Hi David,
We are implementing for multiple business organizations. I have setup AGIS. I have also defined a segment for Intercompany in CoA. I have a doubt as to whether do we need to have IC segment in COA as we would be using AGIS effectively to enter and track Intercompany transactions.

    Please provide expert advise.

    Thanks.

    1. If you have an intercompany segment it is very easy to track the intercompany account balances from trade between any two entities and ensure they are eliminated correctly. I always recommend an intercompany segment.

  2. Hi David,

I want to create transactions automatically between two different LEs in different ledgers. And I have also use the AGIS (advanced global intercompany system) setup.

In there, for the primary ledger, ABC which assign to the ABC LE I have setup intercompany accounts as follows,

*Transacting Balancing Segment Value *Trading Partner Legal Entity Trading Partner Ledger *Trading Partner Balancing Segment Value

    000 DEF DEF 001

And also I have created separate intercompany receivables and payables account for the ledger ABC which assign to the ABC LE.

Also for the primary ledger, DEF which assign to the DEF LE I have setup inttercompany accounts as follows,

*Transacting Balancing Segment Value *Trading Partner Legal Entity Trading Partner Ledger *Trading Partner Balancing Segment Value

    001 ABC ABC 000

And I have created separate intercompany receivables and payables account for the ledger DEF which assign to the DEF LE.

But still when I’m trying to create transactions between LEs in different ledgers the following error pops up. Find the below attachment for more details and appreciating help regarding this..:)

    Thanks / Lathika

  3. Hello David:
Best option(s) to settle interco/intraco AR and AP Balances? Sounds like AP/AR Netting will not work between OUs. So with all this great AGIS functionality generating lots of transactions and keeping them in balance, what is the processing step to automatically settle (net) the resulting balances at prescribed frequencies (ie:: month end or weekly)? Note: We are currently on 12.1.3.

    Cheers,
    Beth

      1. If the transactions are in the same OU, then use netting.
If they are in different OU then on teh AP side, create a dummy bank account and do a pay run to close them out, but do not actually pay them.
On AR, you could create a lockbox to create receipts against them.

  4. I am also interested in Beth’s question. How do you net off intercompany transactions without manually payment batch run and manual receipts.

    1. Client needs to use AGIS for Oracle project allocation transactions. One entity is paying entire amount of the project and needs to allocate cost on other entities by AGIS AR transactions. Another entity should absorb the cost and reimburse the amount by paying with raising AP invoice using AGIS functionality.
